Heimspiel Wissenschaft

Heimspiel Wissenschaft is one of the projects close to our hearts at con gressa. The idea for the format arose in order to promote science communication in rural regions, where there have been few offers of this kind to date. Together with our two project partners, we have been able to stage over 60 home games throughout Germany within two years.

In Heimspiel Wissenschaft, researchers from rural regions return to their home towns to talk about their work. They explain what they do, why they do it and what might be of interest to others. And not in the lecture hall, but in the village pub, the community center, the sports club or another well-known location. The audience are more or less familiar faces from home. The great strength of Heimspiel Wissenschaft is that research can be communicated in an approachable way through the personal relationship between the researchers and the local people.

We were able to implement our project idea with our two project partners HRK and CAPAS. We received funding from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Science Years 2022, 2023 and 2024 initiative. The project was funded for 2.5 years.

The funding period for Heimspiel Wissenschaft is over, but the project lives on! Interested scientists can organize their own home games in their rural home – via their institution or independently.
